ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Carla Harris is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. She executed transactions for UPS, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and the $3.2 Billion common stock transaction for Immunex Corporation, the largest biotechnology follow on offering in U.S. history.
Ms. Harris was recognized by Fortune Magazine's list of "The 50 Most Powerful Black Executives in Corporate America", Black Enterprise Magazine's "Top 50 African Americans on Wall Street", Essence Magazine's list of "The 50 Women Who are Shaping the World", Ebony's list of "15 Corporate Women at The Top" and many other prestigious publications. She was named "Woman of the Year 2004" by the Harvard University Black Men's Forum.
She is actively involved in her community and lives by the words "we are blessed so that we can be a blessing to someone else." Leading by example, Ms. Harris has funded the Carla Harris Scholarship Fund at Harvard University and at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She has served as the Chair of the Board of The New York City Food Bank, Food for Survival, and the Morgan Stanley Foundation and sits on numerous other boards such as The Executive Leadership Council, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), The Apollo Theater Foundation to name a few.
Adding to her accomplishments, Ms. Harris is also a singer and author. She released her second CD, a gospel album entitled, "Joy is Waiting" which was featured on BET. Her first CD, "Carla's First Christmas", was a bestseller in record stores and Amazon.com. Her book, "Expect To Win" in which she share advice she calls "Carla's Pearls", has been called a must-read for anyone seeking methods to overcome common career challenges and to achieve success in any field.
